Getting Around – Illustration Map Design

GAME QUIZ ILLUSTRATION FOR KAPLAN. 2011

I was approached by a project manager from Kaplan schools to work on a new idea that will
involve teaching english to children using interactive games. The idea was to create an
illustrated map with common places and buildings that users could locate by navigating the
map using directions given and learning english in the process using street name and locations.

Overview

Teaching english to children should be
an engaging process, that was part of
the main motive of the project. After
understanding the mechanics of the
game I wanted to come up with design
ideas that children would like, In this
case I spent some time thinking on each
building design to make them a bit funny
to the user so they could enjoy playing
and learning.

Goal

To create an illustrated map using
individual common elements like
streets, buildings, transport and people
that can be moved around to create
different scenarios and be able to teach
children about directions and places.
