A Soundmap of Dún Laoghaire – Web Design & Development
WEBSITE AND AUDIO MAP PROJECT CREATED FOR DÚN LAOGHAIRE, 2015
Overview
I was asked by Anthony Kelly and David
Stalling form farpointrecordings to
collaborate on a very interesting project,
they as sound designers were thinking
to create a soundmap, basically they go
around in different areas in the city and
record any sound from it keeping the
metadata about it SO this sounds can be
added to a library and people could
listen latter on a map view. The idea
called my attention and they got me
involved as would be responsible for
creating the design identity and the
whole platform behind it.
Goal
To build and develop a web platform
that will contain a sound library of Dun
Laoghaire recorded by the artists and
guests. The web would present a map to
the user so they will be able to find
sounds by location and play them
among other content like essays, folk
stories and else.
The website also was created with
responsive standards so it can be
viewed on computer desktops and
mobile devices, making the user
experience well integrated and aiming
for any age user to navigate and use the
platform.
